Snowy Lessons - Caving Print

CavingAs part of the Snowy River Campus outdoor program, each term we make the journey to the famous Buchan Caves approximately a 45 minute drive from the campus with each core group.

We get the opportunity to see active show caves to learn about stalactites, stalagmites and other cave features. The Fairy cave and Royal cave provide much natural and human history and many beautiful photo opportunities.

‘Wilsons cave’, the wild cave provides students with opportunities to get out of their comfort zones and work together to accomplish physical and mental challenges. Students are geared up with overalls, helmets and head torches for the challenge. Students spend about 1 hour underground climbing through small spaces, coming face to face with mud and bats while exploring the cave system as a team.

The day is a highlight for many students; being one of their favourite days of the term. Caving provides an exciting, rewarding and challenging learning environment.
