Friday, it’s the end of a school week here at Snowy. We’re all pretty tired, the program’s pretty full on, but we went surfing today, a perfect end to the week! The waves were pretty small but the weather was awesome. We all headed out to Cape Conran beach, rugged up in wetsuits, to hit the freezing cold winter southern ocean with our boards and helmets.

Surfing was fun, it was my first time and it was great. I got up on my board, just once but it felt so good. It felt like I was on top of the world, like I can do anything. I really enjoy surfing and I can’t wait for the next lesson. We get four lessons throughout the term, so even though standing up was a bit hard this time, I’m sure we’ll get it right next time! A highlight for me was the surfer dude’s dog, Sammy, who was a sucker for pats and came and jumped on us while we pulled in on a wave to the beach! The surf instructors were really good and everyone had a really great time, we all can’t wait for next lesson!
