Meg's Highlights Print

Lovely Ladies of ZincWith only four full days remaining here, we the students are busy completing work such as our passport and rehearsing our CLP presentations for tomorrow. Tomorrow is our big day where liaison teachers from all over the state come to see their schools presentation. With all this going on it’s easy to forget how little time we have left here. In this blog I would just like to tell you about some of my highlights from term 4, 2010.

My first highlight would have to be the day we all got dressed up to do community walk. Community walk is where we walk or run two laps of the running track on Tuesday and Thursday. We used the dress up box and got into the craziest clothes we could find. This is my first hilarious memory I had with my then new found friends.

Next was Expo 1 where we battled with head winds that threatened to blow us away as we walked down the beach. We spent that night playing silly games and laughing at the Expo song we made up.

Then there was the girl’s footy match. It was the first proper game of AFL I had ever played even though we had to compromise slightly due to we only have one set of goal posts. This didn’t stop us as we got straight into the game. Less than half of us could handball and even less could kick straight so we all knew it was going to be an eventful game and it sure was. Despite being on the losing team, everyone including myself, still came back from the oval with massive smiles on our faces.

After the footy match there was Expo 2. On the middle day of expo two where we paddled to Corringle it was my birthday. After we collected the water we needed for the night from the Marlo Angling Club and paddled back to our camp site, I was greeted by the happy surprise of a cake made by my liaison teacher Miss Merritt and my mail being brought across to me.

Next was caving. At first, my stomach was filled to the brim with butterflies I almost backed out from going into the small opening which we had to climb through to get into the cave. After finding my feet in the cave I started to really enjoy it. Wild Caving was something I never imagined myself doing yet after doing it I just want to do it again and again. We emerged from the cave in our bright orange jump suits covered in mud with the biggest grins ever.

Finally, the most amazing and important memory I will take home with me and that will live in my heart forever is the people I have met here. It’s going to be hard to say good bye in only 4 days time but I know for sure we will see each other again in the not so distant future.
